State of the Industry: Mobile Apps

One of the most interesting and useful developments for the meeting and conference industry in recent years is the dedicated mobile app for your event. Creating an app for your organization’s conference allows interaction with attendees on a number of levels.

Participants can register for the conference and specific sessions, see the overall agenda, create a personal schedule of events to attend, evaluate activities and provide feedback, view maps of the venue, hotel(s) and surrounding area, participate in polls, connect with other attendees through the app or links to social media.

With virtually everyone owning a smartphone or tablet, it makes sense to leverage this familiar technology to engage, inform and entertain your attendees. And with all of the event’s details in the palm of one’s hand, attendees can quickly find answers to most of their questions, and organizers can update information and deliver it to all attendees efficiently.

While we don’t create apps ourselves or recommend any specific brand, we have worked with apps by DoubleDutch and Grupio that were very effective and easy to use. There are lots of options out there; a little research and you’ll find the best fit for your event.
